Dream A Little Dream
Ok, so there's this kid that walks into the music store called Gramophone, all wide-eyed and innocent looking. She walks over to the "New Releases" rack, and starts looking for the "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" album by The Jonas Brothers. It was released 3 days ago in the US, so it should be out in Singapore right?
WRONG.
She can't find it. But she doesn't give up hope. She searches through every single rack in the store that holds music albums, resisting the urge to consult the cashier, for fear of rejection. Finally, she gets exhausted and tired of searching, so she walks reluctantly over to the cashier and asks for what she wants. The lady behind the counter tells her that she'll check for it.
While waiting, the kid shuts her eyes, praying and hoping that somehow a miracle will happen and the album will magically appear on the top shelf of that rack.
"Sorry, it hasn't arrived yet."
Opening her eyes slowly, the girl gives the cashier a look of disbelief, turns towards the store exit and trudges out. While walking, she tells herself: It's alright. I'll come back everyday until it arrives.
And so, she does just that. Every single day, after school, she would head over to Gramophone, and stand in front of the "New Releases" rack for about 5 minutes, searching for that same album.
3 weeks and 4 days go by, and by then, the kid had memorised which albums were on which shelves. So, she walks into the store and heads over to the "New Releases" rack as usual. And
THERE IT IS! Shining in all it's glory and splendour..LINES, VINES AND TRYING TIMES. The kid let out a tiny squeal of joy, and did a little dance. She snatched it off the rack and walked over to the cashier, smiling from ear to ear.At the cashier, she took out the money she had been trying so very hard to save - 3 $5 notes, 7 50 cent coins, a 20 cent coin, and a 5 cent coin. She didn't care about the pissed-off stare the cashier gave her. All she cared about was getting that awesome album.
This time, she walked out of the store with a smile on her face:)
- THE END
This incident happened last August..and I'm sure it's quite obvious that the kid is me. I haven't bought an album for a long long long time. Mostly due to my lack of money - which is quite evident from the small change I used to pay the cashier. And also partly due to the ultimate convenience of downloading off the net (I hope I don't get arrested for stupidly admitting to this crime on my blog).
I WILL buy an album before June. I WILL WILL WILL. I'm hoping for My World 2.0 - coming out in 4 days in the US. Hopefully I won't have to wait 3 weeks and 4 days for it to come out in Singapore. I'd just die.
